Team GPSforCyclists.com in pole for New Belgium Urban Assault Ride
Team GPSforCyclists.com will be starting tomorrow's Tucson Urban Assault Ride in pole position! The first event in the New Belgium Brewing's 2009 Urban Assault Ride series kicks off at noon from Maynard's in downtown Tucson, AZ, with competitors plotting their own route to seven activity checkpoints and back to Maynard's.
Our team of Marcus and Sandy is aiming to take the co-ed division honors and a shot at the grand prize of a pair of New Belgium cruiser bikes. They scored the highest marks on the "bonus quiz" that determines the start order and will be leading the peloton towards the first checkpoint--or at least that segment of it that has chosen the same initial route!
From then-on the team's Garmin Forerunner 305 has been preloaded with their expected route, and their Garmin nuvi will be to hand to help locate the "mystery checkpoints" based on clues given during the race.
Check back tomorrow for a race (and GPS technology) report!
